 GOAN MORI/SHARK FISH AMBOTIK RECIPE



Ambotik means sour and spicy...its a delicious curry which is tangy and spicy.I have made this ambotik with mori or shark fish but you can also make this with some prawns too.. I love to have ambotik with some rice and mori croquettes.

Let's see the ingredients and Method

Ingredients

Masala for the ambotik(which can be prepared & stored in the refrigerator )

10 Red Dried Chillies

5 cloves of garlic

1 inch of ginger

1 Tbsp Tamarind

1 Tbsp coriander powder

1 Tbsp Turmeric powder

1 Tbsp Pepper powder

1 Tbsp cumin powder

1/4 Cup of vinegar(Goa vinegar or regular white vinegar)

Other ingredients

2-3 mori or shark cut into medium size pieces

1 tsp of salt

2 tbsp Oil for cooking

4 cloves of garlic chopped fine

1/2 inch of ginger crushed

1 medium onion chopped fine

1 cup of water


Method

For the masala paste grind all the above mentioned ingredients to a very fine paste.

Add salt to the mori pieces and set aside for 15 mins

Heat oil in a pot,add chopped up ginger & garlic,fry well,add the onion and fry well,Add the ground paste & fry for 2 -3 mins.Add the water,mix well & bring to a boil on a high fire.Add the fish pieces.Cover & cook on a low to medium flame till the fish is cooked.You can take one pieces out & cut it up to see if its cooked .It will turn white in colour & one can cut it easily..This should take about 8-10 mins,taste the gravy and adjust the salt if needed.
